All walks start and finish at a station. Start times generally correspond with the arrival of a train from Leeds or Carlisle and may be subject to delay. The walk leader will meet you at the station. Walks marked (*t) start with a train ride, those marked (*b) include a bus ride. Finish times are approximate. Walkers are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from the start and finish of each walk. All walks are free and do not require booking.
WALK GRADES:
Easy – Leisurely walks with regular stops for viewing & refreshment. Any climbs will be of modest gradient & length.
Moderate – These cater for the more experienced walkers. Expect a full day at a steady pace. You may well encounter steeper gradients & more difficult terrain.
Strenuous – A full day’s walk at a brisk pace, you probably will encounter steep slopes and difficult terrain. The walk may also include yomping and/or short scrambles. There could be time constraints.
The pace of the walk is appropriate to the distance and the available time. We ask that walkers accept the pace set. Anyone getting ahead of the leader may be deemed to have left the walk. Good footwear & adequate clothing (including waterproofs) are essential. Please carry enough food & drink for the day. The walk leader reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone who is judged to be not fit or adequately clothed or equipped for the walk concerned, and to vary the walk if conditions so dictate. Under 18 year olds to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Well behaved dogs on a lead only please.
There is a small charge to cover room hire.
Most music sessions run through the afternoon and late into the evening, with breaks. It is your responsibly to make your way to the station for the last departing trains. There is no charge for admittance, but bucket collections will be made towards musicians’ expenses.
